Gene Harkless, DNSc, APRN, FNP-BC, CNL, FAANP

Associate Professor, Chair of the Department, Nursing, UNH

Gene is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Nursing at the University of New Hampshire, has taught and led program development there for 32 years. An FNP since 1980, she provides care at Families First Community Health Center. Her scholarship includes work on decision-making, international health, quality improvement, and frail elders. Her past sabbaticals have been funded by the Fulbright programs in Norway, India, and Indonesia. Dr. Harkless served on the NONPF Board from 2007-2009 and has held positions on the New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner Association Board since 2007, including that of president from 2010-2014, and has served on the AANP Research Committee. She was appointed to the NH Board of Nursing in 2019, where she continues to serve.
