Congratulations to Julie Johnson, Scientific Director, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Me
Julie Johnson, PhD, has accepted the position of Scientific Director for the Surgical Outcomes & Quality Improvement Center (SOQIC) in the Department of Surgery within the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
In addition to her new role, Julie is a professor within the Department of Surgery, Center for Healthcare Studies, and Institute for Public Health and Medicine at Northwestern University and CF Quality Coach and Researcher at The Institute for Excellence in Health and Social Systems (IEHSS).
In her role, Julie will oversee research and academic projects, including research submissions, awards and external collaborations.
The Surgical Outcomes & Quality Improvement Center (SOQIC) is a collaborative health services, outcomes, health policy, and quality improvement research enterprise of more than 60 faculty, fellows, and staff. SOQIC is focused on measuring and improving healthcare quality locally, regionally, and nationally.
Before moving to SOQIC, Julie was Associate Director of Evaluation at Illinois Surgical Quality Improvement Collaborative (ISQIC).
Two of Julie’s recent publications are “Primary prevention of prescription opioid diversion: a systematic review of medication disposal interventions” published in the American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse (Shäfer, Johnson, Wafford, Plumm, Stulberg) and “Barriers to Post-Discharge Monitoring and Patient-Clinician Communication: A Qualitative Study” in the Journal of Surgical Research (Brajcich, Shallcross, Johnson, Joung, Iroz, Holl Bilimoria, Merkow).
